Glim Support

Glim puts one word on your Lock Screen and Home Screen so that learning happens without opening the app — just by glancing. No account, no sign-in.
Frequently asked questions
How do I add the widget?
- Lock Screen — press and hold the Lock Screen, tap Customize → Lock Screen, tap the area under the clock and choose Glim.
- Home Screen — press and hold an empty area, tap + at the top left, search for Glim and add it.
Inside the app you can reopen the same guide from Settings → Show widget guide again.
The widget keeps showing the same word
iOS does not let a widget refresh itself. Glim therefore lays out the next 12 hours of words at 12-minute intervals in advance, so the word changes as time passes. To change it right now, tap Settings → Rebuild the queue now. The same screen shows how many entries are queued and when they were built.
The widget is empty or just says “glim”
The queue hasn't been built yet. Open the app once and it will be created. If it persists, tap Settings → Rebuild the queue now.
The widget's Know / Not yet buttons don't open the app
That's intended. Tapping a button on the Home Screen widget records your answer and moves to the next word without opening the app. The record is applied the next time you open Glim. The Lock Screen widget has no buttons, to keep the word readable.
Is the “words you brushed past today” number accurate?
It is an estimate. iOS never tells an app whether a widget was actually seen, so Glim counts elapsed widget entries as estimated exposure only, and weighs them far below real study. The app labels the number as estimated too.
How do I turn off sound and haptics?
Both can be turned off separately under Settings → Feel. Sound also respects the silent switch.
Can I change how many words appear per day?
Under Settings → Exposure you can change words per day on the widget (default 12) and new words per day (default 10). Fewer distinct words means more repetition — and repetition is the point.
The text is too small
Increase it in iOS Settings → Accessibility → Display & Text Size → Larger Text. Every screen in Glim scales with it.
When are more languages coming?
Korean ↔ English ships today. Other languages are in preparation and appear as Soon on the language screen. Because the data is built around concepts rather than language pairs, adding a language does not erase what you've learned.
How do I reset my progress?
Settings → Erase all progress removes everything. This cannot be undone.
Where is my data stored?
Entirely on your device. Nothing is sent to a server and there is no account. See the Privacy Policy for details.
Report a bug or a wrong word
If you find a mismatched meaning or an awkward example, please tell us. Every word pair was curated by hand, but something may have slipped through. Sending the word and a screenshot is the fastest way to get it fixed.
